In 1999 a group of community minded individuals saw a need for quality live theatre in the Lockport community. In April of 1999 they formed the production company Curtain Up Productions and produced their first performance Jesus Christ Superstar, which was met with rave reviews.
For the past 23 years, Curtain Up Productions has provided Lockport, and the surroundings communities with exceptional entertainment, raising the bar with each production. Some fan favorites include, Les Miserables, Singing In The Rain, Shrek the Musical, Beauty and the Beast and Young Frankenstein.
As the in-house production company of the Palace Theatre, Curtain Up Productions performances are brought to life by an extraordinary production team, phenomenal live orchestra and exceptional local talents.

1776 is a musical with music and lyrics by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone. The show is based on the events leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, telling a story of the efforts of John Adams to persuade his colleagues to vote for American independence and to sign the document. The show premiered on Broadway in 1969 where it received acclaim and won three Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
